•     November 2, 2009... Fulbright & Jaworski becomes first funder for new documentary film on the renovation of the Harris County (Houston) 1910 courthouse.

•     September 9, 2009...BP America pledges $2,500 toward Galveston Island documentary.

•      June 26, 2009... Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation contributes $5,000 toward Galveston Island documentary film for PBS.

•    April 27, 2009... Grant in the amount of $5,000 received from Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust toward Galveston Island documentary film.

•     January 22, 2009... Houston Mayor Bill White awards Texas Foundation for the Arts a special initiatives grant to produce the pilot episode of "Houston Arts Television."  First episode to feature Houston Center for Contemporary Craft,  The Menil Collection, Houston Children's Chorus and the city's art collection as administered through Houston Arts Alliance's Civic Art + Design area.

•     Kempner Fund joins Galveston Park Board, George Mitchell and Moody Foundation in funding TFA's Galveston Island documentary film.

•     TFA has received letters of endorsement from HoustonPBS/Ch. 8, Lyda Ann Thomas, Mayor of the City of Galveston, the Galveston Historical Foundation, and the Galveston Park Board of Trustees for the TFA/Sunset Productions documentary film on Galveston Island.  The program will focus on the resiliency of the island and rebuilding after Hurricane Ike.  

•     Texas Foundation for the Arts has received a $25,000 grant from National Endowment for the Arts to support a documentary film in development detailing the music and life of America’s preeminent opera composer, Carlisle Floyd. Download the press release.
